If you’re looking to book with another photographer in Okinawa, ask “Do you use flash?” The answer to this question will tell you a lot. Most photographers on the island will say “Oh, I just use natural light.” This is a red flag if you want top-drawer results in challenging lighting conditions.

Don’t misunderstand. Natural light can be beautiful and I use it when it allows me to get the best results, but the reality is that the best results in outdoor photography are usually obtained through the use of off-camera flash.  There are not many photographers on this island who know how to use off-camera flash at all, let alone well, and I suggest you ask a lot of questions before you make a payment. This is a public service announcement as much as it is a plug for my services.

As a point of reference, almost every image you see on this site was taken using an off-camera flash of some kind. You will not find a photographer who shoots with flash for a better price on this island.
